Pay/Debit Card Frequently Asked Questions

On This Page:

Top

How does my paycheck get deposited into My Direct Pay account?
You must complete and sign the University Direct Deposit Authorization form, which provides your bank account number and bank routing number to University Payroll Services. You should ask the bank employee to complete the account number and routing number on the direct deposit form. Your My Direct Pay Card number is NOT the account number that will be used for the direct deposit system. On the established payday, the University will deposit your payroll electronically and it will be available to you via you’re My Direct Pay Card.

Can I deposit cash or checks into My Direct Pay account?
No. My Direct Pay accounts can only be funded electronically. No other deposits, cash or checks, can be made.

Top

Can I use a teller to complete transactions?
My Direct Pay is a limited function account funded solely from electronic direct deposit. There are no checks, no counter deposits, no ATM deposits permitted. Using a teller to complete a withdrawal will create a transaction fee.

Top

How do I check my balance or account activity?
You can check your balance or transaction activity at any Wachovia ATM, at Wachovia On-Line or by calling Wachovia Direct at 1-800-922-4684. See transaction limitations.

Top

What if My Direct Pay Card is stolen?
My Direct Pay Cards are protected by Wachovia's Zero liability policy.* If your card is ever lost or stolen, stop by a Wachovia Financial Center to obtain an instant issue card so you can continue to access your account.

Top

When do I receive My Direct Pay Card?
Once your account is opened you will receive your card and PIN within seven to ten days.

Top

Does the My Direct Pay Account have any transaction dollar limits?
Yes, each account has daily limits on ATM withdrawals and POS transactions. When opening your account inquire as to the daily limits on your account.

Top

Can a My Direct Pay Account be overdrawn?
It is possible. You should always keep your transactions records accurate so you know your true account balance. Debit Card transactions may create a hold on funds (which may be larger than the actual transaction) until the actual merchant charge posts against your account. There are situations that an ATM withdrawal could create an overdraft situation. Discuss this question with the person opening your account so you understand these situations and avoid paying overdraft fees.

Top

Are there any fees other than the fees for exceeding the statement cycle transaction limitations?

$25 Account closing: within six months of opening
$15 Counter Check or Withdrawal
$22 NSF/Overdraft: first occurrence
$35 NSF/Overdraft: two or more occurrences
